Lonchaea klynebergi
Description Head: Eyes bare. Frons moderately grey pollinose, narrowing slightly from level of antennal bases to just above lunule where its ratio to eye width is 0.33:1. Frontal and interfrontal setulae short, approximately 0.1x as
long as orbital seta. Orbital plate sub-shining blue-black, slightly dulled by microsculpture, bare apart from orbital
setae. Lunule; ground colour orange, without pollinosity. Face and parafacials moderately grey pollinose. Anterior
genal setulae in a single row of 6–7 along mouth margin. Antennae black, postpedicel length to depth ratio 2.75:1.
Arista pubescent, width of pubescence at maximum extent equal to width of arista at base. Thorax: scutum sub-shining blue black, covered with dense setulae approximately 0.3x length of orbital seta.
Thoracic sclerites grey pollinose. Anepisternum anteriorly with a vertical row of 3 long setae, posteriorly with 4
strong seta in a vertical row, remainder of sclerite covered in moderately long setulae. Proepimeron and
proepisternum each with 1 seta. Katepisternum with 2 setae, posterior slightly stronger than anterior, anterior part
of sclerite covered in long setulae, almost as long as the setae. Scutellum, scutum with slight copper reflections,
covered with light grey pollinosity, on margin with 2 setulae between lateral and apical setae, no setulae between
apical setae. Calypteres white with a dense white fringe. Legs entirely black. Wings damaged and substantially
missing, with a slight brown tint, veins brown.
Male terminalia: (Figs. 33–36): Epandrium in lateral view almost circular, cut away anteriorly, bearing short
rather scattered setulae along posterior and ventral margins; portion anterior to suture well-developed as a distinct
sclerite Cerci very small and narrow, no more than half height of epandrium, membranous and covered with
numerous, rather fine setulae. A small projection visible just ventral of cerci. In ventral view A distinct, loosely
attached thin, rectangular plate situated at base of cerci, posterior margin slightly corrugated, attached anteriorly to
this a large black chitinised anteriorly projecting tooth. Dorsal to this, and hidden in ventral view, a smaller
secondary tooth. Surstyli rather thin and narrow, inwardly curved, apparently without setae or setulae on medial
surface. Acute posteriorly, medial margin with long rather fine setulae, centrally with a large medially directed,
bluntly pointed process almost half as long as surstylus is high. Phallus a rather simple open U-shape, set in a more
complex and well developed phallic guide which may also include fused parameres
