Revision of genus Protearomyia from Fri, 2009-11-06 17:27

The genus Protearomyia was erected by McAlpine (1962). He ditinguished this genus from all other members of the Lonchaeidae by the following set of characters :

  •  Poststigmatical setae absent
  • Lunule bare
  • Scutellar margin with only the four strong setae - no setulae present
  • body without stong greenish or bluish colouration (as in Lamprolonchaea)

Species of the genus are known from South America, temperate north America and Europe
