Dasiops noctuinus
Type material from Kungur, Perm Krai, Russia
Translated extract from (Morge (1959)
In the work of (Zinovjev, 1957), two specimens were found, which were determined as "L. hirticeps Zett." These two specimens do not belong to Lonchaea s. str., but represent a new type of Dasiops: Dasiops noctuinus. All comments of Zinovjev (1957) about "hirticeps " are therefore to be related to this way
Zinovjev found larvae of this D. noctuinus sporadically under fir bark in the teaching forest of the University of Perm in the Urals. Of the eight collected puparia, no less than six were parasitized. Its discovery under the bark of the fir is remarkable, as it usually only contains very isolated Lonchaeidae or other dipteran larvae. Unfortunately, the material was too small in number to provide more details about the diet of D. noctuinus.
