Abstract: | This is a revision of the systematic status of the species of Lonchaeidae from Peru, collected mostly in the Northern part of the Country in 1967-70. Previously described species by Hennig (1948) and McAlpine (1964), from material collected in the south and south-eastern part of the country were also included in this revision. Most of the species were collected by McPhail traps and no data on larval habits were recorded; however, the species Silba pendula (Bezzi), because of its economic importance as a fruit-pest, was thoroughly studied. All the. species treated are included, in the 3 known neotropical genera, Dasiops, Lonehaea, and Silba. Of 46 neotropical species of Dasiops Rondani, 19 species were collected in Peru, including 2 new species, D. chotanus n.sp., and D. ahusatus n.sp.; of 24 neotropical species of Lonchaea Fallen, 12 species ivere collected in Peru, including 2 new species, L. longistyla h.sp. and L. |
